Heterocyclic Chemistry

The main focus in three of the Labex laboratories due to the importance of heterocycles in therapeutic and bioorganic chemistry. It focuses on the development of new methodologies of synthesis which are more economical and eco-compatible with the construction and functionalization of new heterocyclic structures. These methodological innovations in synthesis mean new molecular species can be explored in order to synthesize future medicines. The SynOrg teams are heavily involved in several research programs linked to cancer, infectious and inflammatory diseases and certain illnesses of the central nervous system. These methodological innovations in synthesis are also aimed at the development of new molecular tools (such as fluorescent probes, bioconjugation reagents and conjugated antibodies) in order to improve understanding of the biochemical mechanisms that are responsible for these diseases and to develop new therapeutic approaches.
